Lecture notes in your own language
Verbiva records a lecture from your phone or laptop, detects the language it's given in, and writes the summary in the language you choose. A lecture in Hindi can become notes in English, and a seminar in English can become notes in Spanish.
Who is it for?
Students and teachers aged 16 and over, for their own study or teaching. International students, and anyone who studies in one language and thinks in another, get the most from it. For now it isn't offered in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Quebec.
How do I record a lecture?
- Ask first. Many universities and teachers have rules about recording, and in some places everyone must agree.
- Put your device where it can hear the speaker, press New recording, and confirm that everyone knows and agreed.
- The transcript fills in about every 30 seconds. Press Pause if someone asks you to stop; nothing is captured until you press Resume.
- Press Stop. The summary writes itself once the last audio is transcribed.
What if the lecture switches languages?
Every recording starts on Auto-detect, and each part of the recording (about 30 seconds) gets its own language. If it gets a lecture wrong, set the spoken language for that one recording from its ⋯ menu. Mixed-language lectures are still being tested: see multilingual meetings.
Can I get notes in my own language?
Yes. Set My language in Settings (21 choices, including English, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Bengali, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Korean and Indonesian). You can also read any summary in another language from the pill above it, and translate the transcript.
Can I ask questions about the lecture?
Yes, in the language you think in. "What were the three causes she listed?" gets an answer in the language you asked.
What if the lecture hall Wi-Fi is bad?
Recording keeps going. Audio is saved on your device first and uploads by itself when you're back online. If you close the browser, it uploads the next time you open the app and sign in on that device.
Can I bring in a recording I already have?
Yes. Import an audio file, or a transcript (.txt, .vtt or .srt), from a meeting's ⋯ menu. The free plan allows 2 audio imports a month.
Who sees my notes?
Only you, until you share. To share with a study group, pick the points, check the preview, and send a link that expires.
What does it cost?
The free plan: 2 hours of transcription a month, recordings up to 90 minutes, 5 summaries, 30 questions and 3 translations. Every language feature is included. Paid plans add more; payments aren't on at launch. See pricing.
